Mount Isa – background information
Mount Isa, mining city, Queensland, Australia, is located at the northern end of the Selwyn Range. The Mount Isa zinc, lead and silver mine is one of the biggest zinc mining operations in the world. Owned and operated by Glencore through its subsidiary Mount Isa Mines (MIM), it comprises two underground mines namely, George Fisher and Lady Loretta.
The George Fisher and the Lady Loretta underground mines are located approximately 20km and 110km north of the city of Mount Isa respectively in Queensland, Australia. The George Fisher mine is located on mining lease ML8058 which expires in November 2036 while the Lady Loretta is located on mining lease ML5568 that expires in January 2026.
The Mount Isa multi-metal ore body that also hosts significant copper resources were discovered by John Campbell in 1923 which was followed by the establishment of Mount Isa Mines (MIM) in January 1924. The Mount Isa copper and zinc-lead-silver deposits are hosted within the Mesoproterozoic Urquhart Shale of the 1670Ma Mount Isa Group.
The Mount Isa mines were estimated to hold a total of 79Mt of proven and probable reserves grading 7.4% zinc, 3.6% lead, and 66g/t silver as of December 2019. The Mount Isa mines were previously owned and operated by Xstrata, which merged with Glencore in 2013.

Haul roads: Reports indicate that a mine site uses 9.4 million litres of water per day on just its haul road activities. Water is not only unsustainable but also very ineffective as a haul road dust suppression method. Using GRT:Haul-Loc results in great operational improvement and massive cost savings in water usage and fuel used for water truck movements.
Product: GRT: Haul-Loc
Stockpiles: We have grown a rapport across many industries for tackling stockpile dust challenges on different sites. Mining is one of our major areas. So, why wait to hear it from elsewhere when you can get it first hand from us.
Product: GRT: ACTIVATE, GRT: ORE-LOC
Conveyor belts: GRT implements a combination of chemistry and particle size in making water work for conveyor belt dust control. We wet the material to optimal moisture content, preventing fines from being carried off into the air, or to the air above the material, to return airborne fines to the material bed. The material doesn’t have to be handled again.
