FAQs

Looking for a dust, soil or a water management solution but still have questions before placing an order? Refer to the frequently asked questions below.

We are an international, engineering and technology company focussing on providing innovative products and solutions for the mining, civil, agricultural, resources, land development, and environmental management sectors. GRT’s industry-leading technology is proven to drive process efficiency, deliver sustainable infrastructure outcomes, and improve community health, safety and environmental outcomes.

GRT’s head office is in Queensland, Australia and we operate nationally and internationally. We have distribution partners and agents in a number of countries and jurisdictions including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, India, European Union, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, and North Africa.

Yes, we do have a quality management system that is ISO 9001:2015 accredited.

Yes, our products are non-hazardous, non-dangerous goods. Our products and systems are designed to improve the safety of workers and protect the environment. Ecotoxicity, Food Safety  and WHS testing has been undertaken by GRT and independently verified.

Yes, GRT does supply products and services. For complex installations, GRT will support the customer with on-site technical advice and where necessary, project delivery. We also have a network of distributors and approved contractors who can provide local support.

Intermediate bulk containers – otherwise known as IBCs, are industrial-strength containers used to store or transport a variety of liquids and solids. They’re designed to store products in large quantities, providing a safe and durable way to move them around.

Some of our products are designed to be used with standard civil, mining, and farming equipment in mind. However, some of our products require specialised pumps, dosing units, and other equipment to be used. GRT supplies this specialised equipment.

Our products have been developed to cope with extreme weather conditions. Please navigate to specific product pages for more information.

Yes, SDS’s are available for all products. These are reviewed and updated regularly, and all meet the Global Harmonized Systems (GHS). Contact us for more information.

Typically, dust control and erosion control products can last between 6-12 months. However, this depends on various factors such as vehicle traffic, weather conditions, soil type, location, etc. Talk to one of GRT’s engineers to determine the best solution for your application.

Yes, we do. GRT’s engineers have designed pumps, dosing stations and equipment that make applying the GRT products easier and more accurate.

GRT products do expand and shrink in volume with temperature changes. Liquids that are filled at 15oC can expand around 0.3% if left out in the sun on a hot day. A temperature increase of 30oC can change the fill level from 1,000 litres to 1,030 litres or more.

If significant changes in ambient conditions are expected, then fillers and end-users should specify IBC’s with a top lid insert that allows pressure compensation to avoid over pressuring when heating or tank contraction during cooling. Read more

Water has a specific gravity of 1. Most of our film-forming polymers (for example – GRT7000, GRT: Enviro-Binder) are pretty close to this. Our LCP technologies (for example GRT: Haul-Loc, GRT: Soil-Loc, and GRT: DC Binder) are significantly heavier. 1000L is about 1100kg. On the other hand, GRT: Wet-Loc is much lighter; so much so that a full IBC is only about 830kg.

So the unit of measurement is varied based on this and therefore the pricing.

Dust suppression is the corrective best practice of dealing with fugitive dust particles that have been dislodged from their source. It limits the extent to which dust particles travel in the air.

A dust suppression unit is a Sustainable Mining Automated Reporting Technology (SMART) dosing unit which is a key hardware component that captures and uses powerful real-time data to improve water cart fleet management while cost-effectively eliminating dust.

Different dust suppressants have different mechanisms of action. For example, surface active agents lower the surface energy of water which enables surface charge similarities with dust particles and subsequent binding of the dust particles.

Dust suppression is important for water conservation through reduction of water truck movements, increased production efficiency, improved visibility during operations, reduced operator downtime, compliance to dust legislation and improved safety and health of workers and communities within the vicinity of mining operations.

Dust control in mines varies with type of mine and its activities. You can control dust in mines by using liquid polymers that bind and agglomerate unbound granular materials in unsealed surfaces on haul roads and low-volume roads.

The biggest health risk of mining is contracting occupational lung disease. Exposure to dust at the mine often results in dust related diseases such as silicosis, coal mine workers pneumoconiosis, and lung cancer.

Dust forms in pit to port activities. At the pit it is dislodged from activities such as blasting and drilling. On the way to the port, it is generated from hauling and material handling activities. At the port dust forms during loading and unloading activities and stockpiling.

Miners breathe underground via mine ventilation systems which supply sufficient fresh air and expel contaminated air. The ventilation system dilutes and removes poisonous gases, dusts, diesel particulate matter and regulates temperature.

We supply products across Australia and all over the world.

Yes, you can pick it up from the warehouse and/or arrange your own freight. Alternatively, we can get a competitive rate for you.

GRT products are typically sold at a price per IBC. Products listed per litre are sold in 1,000L per IBC as they have a specific gravity close to or equal to 1. Whereas, products listed per kg have a higher specific gravity (and are therefore heavier – more dense), and can only be sold as a maximum of 950L/IBC.

Delivery charges depend on location and the situation at the receiver’s end. However, our experienced logistics team can overcome any challenges that may arise. Most products are typically dispatched within 2-3 business days.

GRT can provide tracking advice on confirmed orders.

No. GST is not applicable on Australian exports.

No. Export prices exclude freight. Shipments comprise 18 IBC’s for each 20 GP containers (unless otherwise varied by GRT).

IBC stands for Intermediate Bulk Container.
GRT’s IBCs are sourced from Schütz Australia ECOBULK. The inner tanks of the Schütz Australia ECOBULK range of IBCs are embossed with 100 litre graduation marks up to the nominal capacity of 1,000 litres. These markings are indicative only and are present to allow end-users to estimate the contents remaining in an unpigmented IBC. Some variation is found due to the variable shrinkage rates of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) during the moulding process and also after filling, there can be some “bulging” of the steel cage which can affect the accuracy of the fill marks.

Typically, packaging companies will fill containers with liquid products based on weight as the density or specific gravity of liquids changes with temperature. A fill quantity based on weight can be converted to volume at a standard ambient temperature and pressure. Read more.

To ensure the Schütz IBC’s meet the requirements of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by road or rail, 7th Edition (ADG7), enough free space or “ullage” must be left to allow for thermal expansion up to 50oC. Liquids that are filled at 15oC can expand around 0.3% if left out in the sun on a hot day. A temperature increase of 30oC can change the fill level from 1,000 litres to 1,030 litres or more.

Therefore, the inner tanks of IBC’s have a brim-full capacity of approximately 1,070 litres. If filled to the nominal capacity of 1,000 litres, this then allows sufficient free space for liquid to expand in conditions with high ambient temperature.

If significant changes in ambient conditions are expected, then fillers and end-users should specify IBC’s with a top lid insert that allows pressure compensation to avoid over pressuring when heating or tank contraction during cooling. Read more.
