Innovative Australian infrastructure services provider GRT hopes that the focus on infrastructure investment and policies from both the incumbent Morrison Government and Opposition Labor Party continues beyond the 2019 Australian federal election. It particularly hopes that the call to action by Infrastructure Australia Chair Julieanne Alroe to make regional road safety improvements a national priority is supported with sufficient investment into high-risk sections of regional roads across Australia.
In the lead-up to the 2019 Australian federal election, infrastructure provider GRT hopes that both parties long-term commitment to sustained investment into infrastructure investment continues whoever is in power following voting on Saturday 18th May.
Given its focus on focus on regional Australia via its clients across the agricultural, resource and government sector outside the major cities, GRT hopes to address road safety as a national priority as called by Infrastructure Australia occurs, given the fact that relative to population four times the number of fatalities occur in the regions. This social impact is then mirrored by the annual economic cost of road crashes in Australia – a figure estimated at $27 billion per annum according to Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.
According to GRT General Manager, Daniel Grundy the firm welcomes the focus on long-term infrastructure planning from both the Federal Government and Opposition believing that it signifies an understanding of how critical this is to support the long-term economic and population growth of Australia.
“GRT has long worked extensively across regional Australia and witnesses every day the impact poor infrastructure has in terms of supporting the economic and social growth of the community outside of the major cities,” said Mr Grundy.
“As a business, we welcome the long-term view of infrastructure that appears to be held by both the Government and Opposition, as this is critical from both road safety and economic development sense. The roads, agricultural and resource sectors are the three industries we work most closely with and investment in roads will help boost growth in the other two critical areas of the Australian economy – that in-turn will help fuel growth in other sectors.”
GRT has developed and applied technology for the civil, mining, and agricultural sectors to deliver infrastructure and process solutions to minimise safety issues and environmental impacts – quicker and more cost-effective than traditional methods. These are provided to clients as an environmentally friendly solution that can be applied across a wide range of industries and materials to create a safer and sustainable infrastructure and workplaces.
Its recent expansion into South America is being driven by its ability to service the resource and agricultural sector, drawn from its experience in delivering projects in remote and regional Australia.
