GRT Managing Director Troy Adams Joins U.N. Official in Labelling Road Fatalities as a Global Pandemic

Global Road Technology Managing Director Troy Adams Joins U.N. Official in Labelling Road Fatalities as a Global ‘Pandemic’, with 1.3 Million People Dying Annually

Jean Todt, the U.N. Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, has been delivering a crucial message to governments around the world. He believes that the 1.3 million fatalities on the world’s roads every year are unacceptable and is urging governments to take action. Troy Adams, Managing Director of Global Road Technology, agrees with Todt and emphasises the role that better road surfaces can play in reducing the severity of the road toll. By investing in Global Road Technology’s products, safer road conditions can be created globally.

Todt highlighted that the 50 million injuries each year, along with the 1.3 million deaths on the world’s roads, are simply unacceptable. He emphasised that traffic-related incidents are the primary cause of death among children and young people, with nine out of ten traffic deaths occurring in low- or middle-income countries. Furthermore, one in four traffic fatalities involves a pedestrian or cyclist.

“Road safety not just a problem for developing countries”

During his recent visit to Washington, Todt met with U.S. officials to urge the country to take a leading role in promoting and investing in international road safety, especially in light of the rising traffic fatality rate during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with The Washington Post, he referred to the state of road safety as a “pandemic” and “world crisis.” Troy Adams, the Managing Director of Global Road Technology, commented on this issue, saying, “Road safety is not just a problem for developing countries. Advanced economies such as the United States have a vital role to play in reducing the global road toll. This is where we come in. Our polymer sealing dust control solution, GRT7000, can reduce the severity of accidents by improving road surfaces.”

Soil stabilisation can prevent erosion, dust and improve traction
It’s essential to consider different products that can help governments build stronger and safer roads. For example, Global Road Technology’s GRT7000 is a soil stabilisation product that can significantly improve the strength and durability of roads, making them safer and longer-lasting. By stabilising the soil, GRT7000 can also prevent erosion, reduce dust, and improve traction, which are all critical factors for road safety.

In light of the global road safety crisis, it’s crucial to prioritise the use of innovative products like GRT7000 to ensure that roads are safe and reliable for all users. Investing in road safety measures like these can help reduce the number of traffic-related injuries and fatalities, which currently stands at 1.3 million deaths and 50 million injuries per year worldwide. By using these products, governments can help mitigate the risk of road accidents and create a safer, more sustainable future for everyone.
