Dart Mining (DTM) has recently announced some exciting results from its Granite Flat project exploration project which support the soil and drill sampling that highlighted multiple porphyry targets. Ninety-eight chip samples were collected from across the Granite Flat project which yielded rewarding finds. Seventy-two of the ninety-eight had anomalous values for the desired mineralisation.
The drilling commenced after previous soil sampling identified strong copper-gold anomalies which DTM chairman, James Chirnside, described as encouraging.
“The undertaking and completion of this soils program have redefined the project footprint, further emphasizing the extensive scale of this project,” he said, adding that when considered in tandem with observed alteration within the recently completed deep diamond drilling program, the developments were significant.
These soil survey results added to historical data from the 1980s and 1990s which revealed elements of copper, zinc, lead, molybdenum and arsenic. With the follow-up drilling programme reinforcing the expectation of sizable copper and gold anomalies, ongoing exploration efforts are anticipated to produce even more exciting results.
The Granite Flat project is situated in the northeast of Victoria near the town of Mitta Mitta and was last mined in the late nineteenth century after discoveries of gold in the Mitta River. The area has been the site of drilling exploration on a regular basis and DTM geologists believe that ‘many of the geological characteristics and mineralised features of the Granite Flat prospect correspond with key elements of the porphyry exploration model.’
DTM is also moving ahead with a joint venture (JV) with major lithium produce and refiner Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A (SQM), to develop the Dorchamp Lithium project also in northeast Victoria. Confirmation of spodumene as ‘the primary lithium mineral in LCT pegmatite dykes of the Dorchap Range’ was announced by the company in June this year.
