GRT’s polymer stabilization has 2 major applications.
Firstly, poor in-situ materials can be improved greatly – so much so they form an effective sub-grade and even sub-base layer.
Secondly, in stabilising pavement layers, GRT polymers form exceptionally strong bound pavements – that still retain flexibility. This combination of bearing strength, great tensile resilience, and impermeability improves unbound sub-base standard material into bound pavement providing a cost effective alternative to traditional bound pavements such as asphalt and concrete.
These applications can be used in treating unsuitable sub-grades, recycling fatigued pavements, and constructing new pavements for major infrastructure.
Designed to be robust and flexible, GRT polymer sealing can be used as either a permanent sealing option, an interlayer membrane, or used as a temporary running surface.
As a permanent seal, the polymer sealing can be used to seal much lower standard gravels than traditional spray seal – meaning less upfront investment into pavement layers and final trimming. As a permanent option, it also spreads larger, upfront capital investment, over to an annualised maintenance strategy, which can still be cheaper in the long term.
Polymer sealing pavements layers that traditionally need continual watering during a curing period, i.e. cement treated pavements, means savings in plant and water usage, plus keeps loaded water trucks from running across the pavement before it achieves its target strength.
Often in road construction, sidetracks and temporary roads are required due to spatial constraints, traffic volumes, site access, or the construction of new crossings such as bridges. When sidetracks aren’t an option, traffic may have to run on different pavement layers, prior to surfacing leading to degradation and extra maintenance cost for these layers. Polymer sealing provides a cost saving for both these situations. Far cheaper than bitumen sealing, and with single applications lasting for 2 to 4 months, polymer sealing is perfect for a high quality, low cost seal to seal your surface and protect underlying pavement layers from traffic, construction plant and water ingress damage.
On Site Dust Control and Erosion Control
On site windborne dust is an environmental as well as health and safety hazard that can easily spread to surrounding land users, invariably leading to public complaints. Erosion control on large sites, is an important environmental consideration, but can be very expensive, particularly when sediment basins are required, or techniques such as progressive clearing are used which are less efficient than clearing entire sites.
Polymer dust control and erosion control is a cheap and easily applied sprayed management technique to manage broad-scale cleared areas, exposed surfaces, stockpiles, batter slopes, and drainage paths. Formulated in the GRT laboratory, our environmentally-safe polymer products limit construction site dust, erosion, storm water runoff and the adverse effects it can have on human, plant, water and environmental health. GRT’s innovative polymer solutions bind soil particles together into a durable, continuous surface layer, resistant to wind and water erosion.
GRT’s proven liquid tarping solutions help control fugitive dust both in transit and at the stockpile. Binding particles together, GRT’s polymer solutions apply a liquid veneer to loose materials, mitigating airborne dust by up to 95%.
Designed specifically for the conditions of the construction sector, the solution can be applied directly to raw materials, without impacting on the quality of the materials themselves. For example the product does not alter the burning properties of coal and can cost as little as 4.5 cents per tonne – a small price to pay to keep staff and the environment safe.
Polymer Modified Cement
Polymer modified cement created by Global Road Technology is a combination of cementitious binder, GRT polymer, water and granular material. These components are mixed together and compacted in the early stages of the hydration process to form a pavement layer that is subsequently cured.
Effective soil binder & erosion control
GRT-ENVIRO SOIL BINDER & EROSION CONTROL is an organic soil conditioner based on a water-soluble polymer. This product can be added to irrigation water to reduce soil erosion by agglomerating fine particles that otherwise would be carried away by surface water runoff.
